In early 2010, the Faculty of Law of North-West University, South Africa, and the Faculty of Law of Justus Liebig University, Germany, got together to set up a network addressing teaching and research in the legal aspects of transboundary protection of biodiversity in Southern Africa, focusing on the Southern African Development Community.
